In business it’s easy to get stuck in the ‘what’ and the ‘how.’

After all, it’s what we humans are designed to do. We have a whole list of ‘whats’ to complete in any given day, and the key task of our thinking brains is to work out ‘how’ best to achieve them.

But if we don’t spend any time considering ‘why’ we are doing what we do, then the ‘whats’ and the ‘hows’ might end up leading us in completely the wrong direction. And even if we are heading in the right direction, the ‘how’ that drives the ‘what’ can be tough to do sometimes. It can feel monotonous, difficult or challenging – but if we remind ourselves ‘why’ we are doing it, it becomes so much easier to bear.

It’s important to make time for ‘Why,’ and remind yourself why you exist (as a business / brand), why you are doing the work you do, and why it’s so important to make a difference to your customers, team and business partners. It could well be the tonic you need to revive your passion for your work, and to give you and your team a well-needed boost.

Because when it comes to motivation, ‘why’ trumps an entire army of ‘whats’ and ‘hows.’
